Allesandro Angelini
Graduate Teaching Fellow in Sociology

Alessandro Angelini is a graduate teaching fellow at Baruch and a Ph.D. candidate in Cultural Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center. His research interests include Urbanization and Public memory, particularly in cities which have suffered some kind of social trauma which is (or is not) becoming memorialized in urban space.

Additional academic interests include comparative literature (especially of and about cities), linguistics, colonial and postcolonial histories, and development in the Global South.

Angelini holds a Masters (MSc 2003) in urban geography from the London School of Economics and Political Science. His dissertation for the Cities, Space and Society program investigated memory and redevelopment in District Six, a multiethnic inner-city quarter of Cape Town, South Africa, demolished under apartheid urban policy.
