Prof. Peter Gregory Wins Chancellor's Award

Congratulations to Weissman Mathematics Professor Peter Gregory, who has been recognized for his innovative techniques and practices in teaching coursework to students at Baruch College.

This prestigious award is given to a maximum of six CUNY professors each year. It is based on evidence that a faculty member's students improved their skills in math as a result of a particular successful technique or action. Gregory submitted a narrative for consideration describing his use of tablet PCs in conjunction with Ti-89 graphing calculators to improve student learning. He also captured data showing that these methods have in fact affected learning in a positive way, and wrote a description on how they can be adopted by other professors.

The award will be bestowed at a ceremony on May 12, 2011, in conjunction with the CUNY Math Challenge awards.
