This special workshop in fiction writing will be taught by the renowned novelist Richard Price, the author of eight novels including Clockers, Freedomland, and Lush Life. Mr. Price has also written screenplays for several films including The Color of Money, Clockers, and Freedomland, and he received an Edgar Award for his television writing in the HBO series, The Wire.

This fiction workshop will be completely based on the writings of the students. Each week four stories or fragments of stories submitted by students will be discussed by the group. The work will be emailed to your classmates so that everyone has time to read and organize their thoughts to share with the writer.

The criticism will at all times be in the spirit of helpfulness. We will advance our ability to write imaginatively both by learning how to read and critique the work of others and by our own efforts to create fiction. Some students will be more practiced in writing fiction than others, but first timers are more than welcome. Reading assignments will be given to each student.

IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE, STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT SAMPLES OF THEIR WRITING FOR REVIEW BY APRIL 9th TO PROF. ROSLYN BERNSTEIN. CALL: 646-312-3930
or EMAIL: ROSLYN.BERNSTEIN@BARUCH.CUNY.EDU
