A  LIVELY DISCUSSION WITH HARMAN WRITER GISH JEN

At a reading earlier this semester, Gish Jen, the Fall 2013 Harman Writer-in-Residence, spoke about her new book, “Tiger Writing: Art, Culture, and the Interdependent Self” and engaged in a spirited discussion with Baruch College students about the life of a writer.

The following video includes an introduction by Prof. Roslyn Bernstein, director of the Harman program, and excerpts of Jen’s Q&A with audience members. (Videos by Stephen Benner)

Prof. Bernstein also noted that this semester marks the writer-in-residence program’s 16th year and announced that she would be stepping down as director. Taking on the role beginning in the Spring 2014 semester will be Prof. Bridgett Davis, who like Prof. Bernstein is a member of the Department of Journalism and the Writing Professions. Prof. Bernstein’s full remarks can be seen in this video.
