Gerard Dalgish served for twenty-five years as ESL Director, and for six years as Writing Director. He has taught ESL Writing, Linguistics, Structure and History of English, and other Linguistics and writing courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. His areas of research, interests and publications are in the fields of Linguistics, African Languages and Linguistics, Lexicography, ESL Pedagogy, and Computer-Assisted Language Learning. In addition to his books, monographs, and some thirty scholarly articles, he publishes a CD-ROM containing twenty-five interactive ESL grammar programs. His current interests include database applications in linguistic research and technological assistance in assessment and grading. Prof. Dalgish received his B.A. from Lehman College, CUNY; his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He has studied African languages, lived and taught in Tanzania and Sweden, and conducted workshops and taught in Israel and Viet Nam. He received the College's Teaching Excellence Award and has been involved in numerous campus-wide committees.
