Danielle Seid joined Baruch in fall of 2017 after receiving her PhD in English from the University of Oregon. Her research and teaching interests include film and television history, celebrities and fandom, feminist theory, and queer and trans studies. She is currently working on a book manuscript tentatively titled Beautiful Empire: Race, Gender, and the Asian/American Femme on U.S. Network Television, which employs interdisciplinary methods to explore the relationship between Asian/American celebrity, television entertainment programming, and U.S. militarism and imperialism in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Her work has been published in TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, Amerasia, and Hyphen Magazine, and she has a forthcoming article in The Journal of Popular Culture. At Baruch, Professor Seid teaches Women in Film, Great Works of Literature, and special topics courses in film and media studies.
