The Department of Communication Studies
Welcome. We invite you to explore Communication Studies at Baruch.
Communication Studies is a strategic and practical choice for undergraduate and graduate students alike. Currently, our department is home to more than 350 majors in Corporate Communication, and nearly 400 minors in Communication Studies. We teach Public Speaking to more than 2500 students annually and enroll 70 graduate students in our growing Master’s program in Corporate Communication.
Students in our courses examine this multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary field and develop an advanced understanding of communication, while learning theoretical principles that are immediately applicable to every career path. Our faculty guide students in developing their oral and written communication abilities, in both personal and professional contexts, and encourage students to incorporate sound principles of analytical, interpersonal, rhetorical, visual, intercultural, mediated and strategic communication into their daily lives.
Our faculty are distinguished contributors to the field of Communication Studies and are a dedicated group of scholars and practitioners who offer their diverse and dynamic contemporary expertise to the study of communication in a variety of areas, including: corporate and organizational communication; media studies; rhetorical communication and persuasion; public relations; interpersonal and group communication; family and work life balance; intercultural and international communication, communication pedagogy and business communication.
