Bernie West, Emmy Award-Winning Baruch Grad, Dies at 92

The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences community is saddened by the loss of Bernie West ( ‘39), who died July 29th at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. The cause was complications of Alzheimer disease.

Mr. West was a comic actor who became an Emmy-winning writer and producer on socially conscious situation comedies like “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons.” In the 1990s, his gracious gift helped fund the construction of what has become the Bernie West Theatre at Baruch, home to Fine and Performing Arts student productions.
