David William Foster is a Regents’ Professor of Spanish and Women and Gender Studies at Arizona State University, where he edits Chasqui; revista de literatura latinoamericana. His research focuses on Latin American urban culture with particular reference to gender issues, and he has books on both Mexico City and Buenos Aires. A book on São Paulo is forthcoming with the University Press of Florida. During July 2010, he led an NEH Summer Seminar for College and University Professors on urban culture in Brazil, held in São Paulo.
