For Students

When to come:
Make an appointment well before your writing assignment is due to leave ample time for revision and further work. You can come at any point in the writing process: brainstorming, researching, drafting, revising, polishing, etc. Sessions with Writing Center consultants are 50 minutes long for scheduled appointments, and for walk-in appointments.

What to bring:
If your writing is for a class, bring your professor's assignment sheet, two copies of the writing you have done so far for the assignment, the text you’re working with, class notes, and a pen/pencil and paper to take notes.

What to expect:
Expect to work! The goal of the session will be to strengthen good writing skills while we work on your writing assignment. We will identify your strengths and areas that need to be developed. We will recommend concrete strategies and resources available at Baruch and elsewhere.

What NOT to expect:
We will not edit or proofread your papers. We will not tell you what to write. We do not print out papers.

Who we are:
The Writing Center is staffed by consultants who are academic professionals with strong tutoring, composition and ESL experience.
Some of us are instructors in the English Department at Baruch.
