About Lidija Stupar

Lidija Stupar was born in Croatia and moved to New York in April 2004. She is earning her BBA in Finance and Investments at Baruch. Lidija adores all of her English teachers starting with those in Croatia. Here at Baruch her favorites are Prof. Christopher Trogan who taught her how to think in a different way, and Prof. Grace Schulman who gave her a glimpse of how is it to look through eyes of a poet.

The Fear of Endings
By Lidija Stupar

If you ever think of touching me,
Don’t, even if I beg you.
Because if you do, you will become human to me,
And being human is so vulgar and exhausting.

Morning breath, sweat,
A black hair on the white linens,
A yellow drop on the toilet seat.

I don’t want to see the other side,
I don’t even know if I believe anymore that it’s there,
And yes, I know I sound ridiculous.

Resentful sex,
Getting old.
Dying.
Disgusting. Embarrassing.

Stay as far as you are
So I can continue dreaming.
But if you can, please,
Will you stay with me forever?
