Live chat: The Writing Center offers online appointments whenever face-to-face appointments are available.

If you would like to meet with a Writing Center consultant online, sign up an appointment as usual.  At the bottom of the form, where it asks "Meet online?" select the pull-down option that says:

"Yes - meet online "

Approximately five minutes before the start of your appointment, log on to the schedule, click on the Control Panel, and click "Meet Consultant Online" to the right of your appointment details.

Note the difference between our eTutoring and chat services. In an eTutoring session, you send us your writing and within 72 hours a consultant emails you back with feedback and responses to your questions. In a one-on-one chat, you send us your paper at the start of a 50-minute session and a consultant chats with you online about your writing. As in all meetings with our consultants, you should expect to direct sessions; asking consultants specific questions about your writing will help them to help you.
