HUMOR
“Prose and Cons
”
Saturday Night Live skit
As early as 1981, Saturday Night Live documented the incredible reservoir of prison literary talent in a segment titled “Prose and Cons,” starring Eddie Murphy, as jailhouse poet Tyrone Green. In the segment, prison guards carry off an inmate caught in the act of plagiarism. As the culprit, his arms and legs flailing, is carried passed Eddie Murphy’s cell, Murphy reaches through the bars with a tin cup and hits him in the head.
