Prof. Shockley Recognized by Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology

Shockley at award presentationThe 2012 S. Rains Wallace Dissertation Award, given by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, has been awarded to Baruch College professor Kristen Shockley. This award is given to an individual the Society deems as having the best doctoral dissertation research germane to the field of I-O psychology. Prof. Shockley’s winning dissertation research, titled "You Can't Always Get What You Want, But Does It Matter? The Relationship Between Pre-Child Preferences and Post-Child Actual Labor Division Fit and Well-Being" demonstrates the use of rigorous and creative research methods. Congratulations to Prof. Shockley on this outstanding recognition of her work!

Exam Notice for CUNY Office Assistant Positions

Please be advised, the June 10, 2012 application deadline for the CUNY Office Assistant (position #2040) examination is quickly approaching. The written examination is scheduled for July 14, 2012; however, both your application and $30.00 filing fee must be submitted by the June 10 deadline.

The CUNY Office Assistant (COA) is a full-time position utilized by almost every department on campus and throughout CUNY. The COA position performs a variety of administrative, clerical, customer service and office support functions. With this position comes outstanding benefits, such as: tuition waivers – after 6 months of employment - for undergraduate and graduate degrees, full health coverage as of first day of employment, retirement and pension plans, etc.

Thomas Daly Named Player of the Year, Jose Torres Coach of the Year

The Baruch College Bearcats were honored with two major awards from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) voted by the region’s head coaches. Jose Torres was named the Coach of the Year for the first time. Torres, who was also named the CUNYAC Coach of the Year, managed the team to a season record 22 wins and their first postseason berth since 1977. Player Thomas Daly was named the Player of the Year. Daly, who was also named the CUNYAC Player of the Year, had a solid season batting .405 with a Baruch record 52 RBI. More info

To register for one or more courses, please complete the application located here and fax the completed application to Andrew Smilowitz in the Office of Human Resources at 646-660-6614 or e-mail your application to HR.Learning@baruch.cuny.edu no later than seven days before the class date. Most courses are free or have a reasonable fee that will be charged to the College, not to individual department budgets.
