Below are descriptions of our on-going leadership positions. Except for Senior roles, students will be trained to meet the responsibilities of each position.

Program Leaders
13 positions * all filled for 2010-2011
Service period: August 2010 – May 2011
Expected work hours:
Qualifications: students with prior VITA experience
Responsibilities:
- Designs and executes volunteer recruitment strategies (i.e. informational tables, flyers, e-mail and Facebook campaigns, open houses)
- Serves as liaison between the club and interested students
- Assists with program operations
- Plans training logistics, grades exams and distributes forms
- Assigns volunteers to preferred locations
- Plans and excutes the annual Recognition Ceremony & Awards Dinner
- Serves as a Site Coordinator for a 1-day shift
1 position
Service period: August 2010 – May 2011
Expected work hours: project-based
Qualifications: students with in-depth understanding of HTML, FTP capability
Responsibilities: works with Program Coordinators to update Baruch VITA's website
3 positions * all filled for 2010-2011
Service period: August 2010 – May 2011
Expected work hours: as many as necessary, minimum 20 hours per week
Qualifications: students with prior VITA experience, dedication to the program
Responsibilities:
- Recruits and interviews students for senior positions in the program
- Creates and enforces all Baruch VITA policies (from recruitment to award recognition)
- Interacts with external partners (IRS, external community centers) to execute a successful partnership
- Interacts with various Baruch College offices and other student organization to recruit volunteers and execute event logistics
- Approaches external organizations and individuals in search of corporate sponsorships
- Works with an extended officer team in execution of their goals
- Administers November and January tax training sessions
- Compiles volounteer hours and service statistics
- Designs, plans and implements Recognition Ceremony & Awards Dinner in May
1 formal position, unlimited informal positions
Service period: August 2010 – May 2011
Expected work hours: minimum 10 hours (on-call 24/7)
Qualifications: former Program Coordinators only; lifetime membership
Responsibilities:
- Advises Program Coordinators and helps them with any program issues
- Works with Alumni VP's in executing short-term goals
- Creates and implements long-term strategic goals (e.g. volunteer retention, E-file)
- Provides continuity of Baruch VITA leadership
Training Leaders
10 positions
Service period: November 2010 – January 2011
Expected work hours: minimum 32 hours over 4 weekends in January (not including prep time)
Qualifications: students with prior VITA experience, strong grasp of U.S. Income Taxation, public speaking
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Training Team in preparing textbook, workbook, exams, and other training materials
- Attends all "Train-the-Trainer" meetings scheduled by the Training Team
- Trains a class of 40-50 students in Federal and NYS taxation
- Prepares for training by actively reviewing the textbook, workbook problems and other training materials
- Assists with grading exams
10 positions
Service period: January 2011
Expected work hours: 24 hours over 3 weekends in January
Qualifications: students with prior VITA experience, strong grasp of U.S. Income Taxation, good communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Reviews training materials
- Assists Volunteer Trainer during training sessions (with media deployment, etc.)
- Assists Trainees that are having difficulty with in-class problems
- Assists with grading exams (preferred but not required)
On-site Leaders
7 positions for off-campus locations, 8 positions for on-campus location
Service period: February 2011 – April 15, 2011
Expected work hours: minimum 10 hours per week
Qualifications: students with prior VITA experience, good understanding of VITA site operations, strong grasp of U.S. Income Taxation, good communication & people skills
Responsibilities:
- Performs quality review on all returns prepared by volunteers
- Enforces "Volunteer Code of Conduct" established by IRS & Baruch VITA
- Addresses concerns from both clients and volunteers
- Assists volunteers that are having difficulty preparing a tax return
- Greets and screens clients
- Keeps track of volunteer attendance and statistics
- Takes inventory of forms and supplies
- Ensures that all volunteers are productive during their shift (If client traffic is low, assigns volunteers to marketing/admin tasks.)
- Recognizes outstanding volunteers by recommending "Volunteers of the Week" and end-of-year award recipients
- Promotes service to local community
- Maintains a good working relationship with location partner (especially for external locations)

Expected work hours: minimum 5 hours per week
Qualifications: students with prior VITA experience, good understanding of VITA site operations, strong grasp of U.S. Income Taxation, good communication & people skills
Responsibilities:
- Assists Site Manager with site operations and quality reviews for all tax returns prepared on-site
- Directs volunteers and clients with concerns to Site Manager
- Guides volunteers through difficult tax returns
- Greets and screens clients
