Multiple-Choice Quiz (Pre-Test)

All volunteers (new and returning) are required to take a multiple-choice quiz on basic income tax concepts before coming to the main training sessions in January. The quiz is now available. You can download printer-friendly PDF file. You need to submit the answers using the online survey form. You need to answer 25 out of 30 corretly to pass the test. You have two attempst. The results will be posted online after a couple business days.

Only those who pass are invited to training. (You will receive a confirmation email.)

Open-Book Post-Test for ALL volunteers

The following weekend after the three-day training in January (January 24 & 25) you will be required to take what we call a "Post-Test": a comprehensive exam in federal and New York state taxation. It will have two parts:
  • Part I (from 9:30 to 11:00) – several small problems (e.g. complete a worksheet or a form)
  • Break (from 11:00 to 12:00)
  • Part II (from 12:00 to 3:00) – a full mock federal and NYS return
For the return we will choose a common scenario that you would deal with on the site and will ask you to prepare a full return as if it was for a real client. The exam is open-book so you will be able to use any reference materials you wish. However, we will not have extra copies of the instructions. Therefore you must bring your own copies that we distributed on the first day of your training.

Study materials will be available closer to the test date.
