International Applicants

As one of the most diverse campuses in the United States, Baruch welcomes students from many different countries and backgrounds.

If you are applying from a school outside the U.S., you should follow the same steps and deadlines as students applying from U.S. schools. However, there is some special information for international applicants outlined below.

Application Materials

Photocopies of Educational Documents

Students applying from outside of the United States should apply earlier than the regular priority deadline dates because transcripts may take longer to be received and processed by the CUNY Processing Center. Applications will not be complete, and therefore cannot be processed, until the transcripts have arrived at CUNY. We suggest students have their applications completed and sent in at least 4 weeks prior to the deadline.

You must submit photocopies of all transcripts, mark sheets, and secondary external examination certificates (CXC, GCE, WASC, EASC, etc.).

If the original documents are in a language other than English, they must be accompanied by an official word-for-word translation of the entire document on business letterhead. Please refer to CUNY's website for international applicants for specific translation guidelines.

After you submit your completed application, the admissions review process begins. When mailing in your completed documents, try to mail them all together. All documents should go to:

The City University of New York
University Application Processing Center (UAPC)
P.O. Box 350136
Brooklyn, NY 11235

Test Scores (TOEFL, IELTS)

If you are on a temporary visa and were educated in a non-English speaking environment, you must demonstrate your English proficiency. To do this, you must submit scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic format/level test. We prefer a TOEFL score of 95 out of 120 or an IELTS score of 7.

Baruch College’s TOEFL code is 2950. TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years. For more information on how to apply, please read the CUNY Admissions’ website information for Students Educated Outside the U.S.

We do not require essays or recommendations for the general freshmen application, though an essay is recommended. The SAT or ACT is not required for admission (we will certainly accept your scores, if you choose to take either exam).

Decision letters will go out about 6-8 weeks after application is complete. You can check the status of your submitted application at your CUNY portal account. You can also call the processing center's automated system at the Office of Admissions Services at (212) 997-2869.
