Transportation Survey

CUNY has committed itself to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2017, under NYC’s PlaNYC and the Sustainable CUNY project. One of the various emission sources that contribute to our overall carbon footprint are the miles each of us travel as we commute to and from our respective colleges throughout the year. In order to produce a picture of commuting trends across the University and to capture who is traveling where, for how long and by which mode of transport, the CUNY Sustainability Task Force has developed a short, online survey, the results of which will contribute toward the development of more sustainable transportation and commuting options for the CUNY community and the wider city of which we are a part. The information from this survey will be used to assess the methods and frequency of transportation used, types of fuel consumed, and amount of time spent commuting. The long-term objective is to improve the commutes of CUNY students, staff, and faculty to and from each of our CUNY campuses. Please take 5 minutes to complete the survey by clicking here.

We want to invite all to join the Student task Force on Sustainability

If you want to become a member, or simply sit in on one of our meetings, feel free to check the calander to see more information as the weeks progress.

Sustainability Gets the Green Light

Sustainability means meeting the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Baruch College is an environmentally responsible urban campus that strives to be a leader in the field of renewable resources and green technology. Baruch nurtures a culture that contributes to solving local, regional and global sustainability challenges.

Sustainable CUNY

The CUNY Sustainability Project was given institutional clarity and impetus through the acceptance by Chancellor Goldstein of Mayor Bloomberg’s '30 in10' Challenge. This challenge will motivate New York City’s public and private universities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2017.

CUNY is committed to investing the resources necessary to construct, retrofit and maintain more sustainable and green facilities. To assure a more sustainable CUNY and a sustainable New York and in order to meet these challenges Executive Vice Chancellor and COO Allan Dobrin has created the CUNY Task Force on Sustainability.

All 23 CUNY Institutions and their leaders will create unique and measurable ten year sustainability plans in order to reach CUNY’s target in 2017, with support from the Task Force.
