Anne Austin
Director
I came to Baruch in 1990 as Teacher/Director starting with five
children in what is presently known as Newman Hall.
In the spring of 1993, a slightly expanded staff moved
to our present location on 19th Street. Within the
next year our enrollment increased to our licensed capacity. |
Prior to Baruch I had worked with children and families in
many different settings: working with children as lead teacher
in the Bronx Family Court, coordinating an Early Literacy program
for parents and toddlers, serving on the admission committee
at Horace Mann School, assisting in the Comprehensive Day Care
Training Program at City College, and as a staff developer
in Northwestern Connecticut.
Born and raised in New York City, I received my B.A. in Sociology
from CUNY and a M.S.Ed. from Bank Street College. While
it may seem contradictory to this brief biography I love all
things related to living in the country. The variety of
people in this city draws me back and is where my husband
and I chose to raise our son. The families, the children
and the stability of the staff in this program continue to inspire
and energize me.
