Thursday, August 24, 2017

Greetings Future Bearcats!

Congratulations again on acceptance to Baruch College! The Student Life Team at Baruch College has been busy preparing for your arrival and are looking forward to meeting you. This is undoubtedly an exciting time as you prepare to embark on the next chapter of your life. We have little doubt that your journey with us is going to be marked with some exciting, challenging and memorable experiences.

The start of your Baruch College academic journey begins with

Baruch College Convocation

Thursday, August 24th

Convocation Day is the official opening ceremony held for all first-year students. During the day you will hear from the Baruch College President and Provost and be formally inducted as a member of the Baruch community. You will also attend your first class of the semester, First-Year Seminar (FRO 1000), in addition to other engaging programs including Club Fest. This first-hand look at student life will undoubtedly leave you wanting more!

Each year, a committee of faculty, students, and administrators selects a book for the entire Baruch community to read as a shared activity. This year’s selection is The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Henriquez. Make sure that you have read the First-Year Text and are prepared to discuss it in your First-Year Seminar class on Convocation Day. A copy of this book was given to you at Orientation.
