GREEK LIFE AT BARUCH COLLEGE

BEFORE I JOIN, WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
Joining a fraternity/sorority is a decision that should not be
taken lightly. There are many
responsibilites that come along with membership in a Greek Lettered
Organization (GLO). Be sure to ask questions about any requirements
that an organization may have, not only for members, but for
potential members as well.
HOW DO I DECIDE?
The GLOs on Baruch’s campus are as diverse as the campus’ undergraduate
body. This diverstiy allows for students to seek out an organization
that suits their needs best. Some organizations have a
special focus on athletics, community service, or culture. Feel
free to look at every organization
recognized by Baruch College and make a choice based on your
needs.
MEMBESHIP INTAKE
Membership intake for each organization on Baruch’s campus
is different. Each organization has a tailored way of bringing
in new members that can best be explained by current undergraduate
membership. If you’re interested in finding out more about
membership in these organizations
attending events like “Meet the Greeks” hosted by
the Baruch College Inter-Greek Council might help. Additionally
each organization on campus hosts different events to educate
potential members about their organizations (rush events, informationals,
etc.). Keep an eye open for promotion of these events.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I BECOME A NEW MEMBER?
There are a wealth of opportunities that will become available
to you as a member of a GLO at Baruch. Membership in any of the
organizations on campus will increase your opportunities to network
with successful alumni, take an active role in the campus community,
excel academically, and engage you in activities off-campus.
Your involvement with a GLO at Baruch will also allow you to
mature as a leader which will serve its purpose well past your
undergraduate experience. Be prepared to enhance your experience
as an undergraduate as well as a graduate of Baruch College.
