LEADERSHIP
“If your actions inspire others to dream more,
learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader” -
John Quincy Adams
The Greek community is full of leaders. Members of Greek
Lettered Organizations (GLOs) are known for their exceptional
leadership capabilities. Their work both on and off campus helps
to build a sense of
community, affect positive change and develop the leadership
abilities of those around them. A testament to this quality would
be that many GLO members hold positions in both their fraternities
and sororities as well as other student led organizations on
campus.
SCHOLARSHIP
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” -
John F. Kennedy
Truly leadership and learning go hand in hand. Many of the
GLOs on Baruch’s campus stress the
importance of academics to all of their membership. Evidence
of this can be found in the mission statements and philanthropic
activities associated with each organization. Some organizations
go as far as requiring a
minimum GPA for membership consideration and active membership
participation. Each organization
recognizes that students are here obtain a quality education.
SERVICE
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world” -
Mahatma Ghandi
Service must be one of the most important, if not the most
important, aspects of the GLO community. Each organization on
Baruch’s
campus takes part in various community service projects throughout
the year. Through volunteer work and fundraising Greeks at Baruch
help to uplift those in the communities around them. Almost all
of the organizations on Baruch’s campus have at least one
national philanthropic focus. This dedication of service to the
community is evident in the countless hours of time GLO members
dedicate to the service of others.
FRIENDSHIP
“There are not many things in life so beautiful as friendship,
and not many things more uncommon.”
- Anonymous
Brotherhood and Sisterhood are the glue that hold together
fraternal and sororal organizations. Through the bonds that members
build with one another through their undergraduate experiences
they establish friendships that can last a lifetime. The experiences
that students within Baruch’s GLO community establish don’t
have to end after graduation. Many of the organizations on campus
offer ways for graduate members to maintain activity and a connection
with the undergraduate membership (i.e. Graduate/Professional
Chapters, Alumni Advisors, etc.).
