Undergraduate Student Government (USG) is the official representative
organization of both the day and evening undergraduate students.

| President |
Farhana Hassan
I transferred into Baruch Spring of 2011, and I spent one semester pledging for a sorority until I realized that it wasn’t for me. I quit pledging literally a week before the end of what felt like the longest two months of my life. I knew deep in my heart I wanted to do something else, student government. Right away I got in contact with the student government at the time and began attending committee meetings. Working with student leaders like Robert Smith and Chris Catalano helped me realize how rewarding helping the student body is. Fast forward to Spring 2013, I am now the VP of Academic Affairs of the Undergraduate Student Government of Baruch College. My journey here has been truly rewarding, full of hard work and new friendships. I’ve grown tremendously as a student leader, and I cannot imagine not contributing to my Baruch community. I am running for Executive President and USS alternate because I want to continue the work my team and I have started this year. I also want to lead others in this rewarding experience of managing and supporting student life. I want to help a new line of student leaders experience the rewards of giving back to their peers. Being a part of this year’s USG has taught me so many valuable lessons and has also helped me perceive new routes than can be taken to improve the imperfections that exist. I love Baruch College with all of my being, but I know there is always room for improvement. I believe my experience as a student and Senator will help me positively lead next year’s team to effectively serve the student body. I realize my vision is not enough and that is why I am running with a team called Rethink Baruch. My team members will make up for my flaws and the diversity in our perspectives will help us serve as a representative governing body. I look forward to campaigning and I plan to give this all I’ve got. |

| Executive Vice President |
Henry Ma
It is to my utmost pleasure to declare my candidacy as Executive Vice President under the platform "Rethink Baruch". I believe my two years at this institution has served me well and would like to dedicate my final year at Baruch towards giving back to the community. I believe nothing is more pleasing to me than fostering the growth of students that were once in my shoes. If elected, I aim to work diligently with my team to establish more networking opportunities for students, and set it as a precedence for future Undergraduate Student Governments. |

| Treasurer |
Santiago Gomez Flor
I, Santiago A. Gomez Flor, am pleased to share with everyone that I am running for Treasurer of Baruch’s College Undergraduate Student Government. After my long journey as a transfer student I understood that I could indeed make a difference by not just words but by actions. Alongside being a photographer for Lexicon Baruch and Japan club and pursuing an Accounting degree I am excited to represent Rethink Baruch to foster more growth and be of service to the student body. As a Treasurer I will make sure I help student life prosper by managing student activity fee efficiently and appropriately. I want to thank everyone in the team as well as the students of Baruch for the amount of support and expectation for the future. |

| Secretary |
Vanessa Aguilar
My name is Vanesa Aguilar and I’m running for Executive Secretary of USG with Rethink Baruch. As an involved student in club life and current Senator for USG, I realize the tremendous potential of the students in our school. Many strive to succeed in their academics as well as prepare for their career paths. Others choose to motivate their fellow students by providing opportunities outside the classroom environment. To become a well-rounded individual there needs to be a balance and that’s what Rethink Baruch stands for. We want to help the everyday student achieve their goals. Whether it is on campus or off-campus, Rethink Baruch thrives to evolve what many consider “standard to innovative”. We want to empower and support our students by helping them realize their potential and achieve their goals. My ability to work well in a team composed of individuals with distinct backgrounds can only show how attentive I can be to those around me. I believe communication is the core of any friendship and thus I’ll do my best to keep it smooth, flowing, and accurate. Not only do I look forward to working with new students but also the various entities on campus. If elected, I plan to go above and beyond the duties of a secretary to ensure an inclusive and motivated team that will produce results for our student body. |

| Vice Presidential Senators |
Samyuktha Shivraj (Academic Affairs)
My name is Samyuktha Shivraj and I am running for Vice President of Academic Affairs with Rethink Baruch. I am currently the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs in the Undergraduate Student Government. Over the course of the year, I have had the chance to interact with students and hear about their academic needs. It is important for students to have access to an abundance of clubs and organizations, but we are at Baruch mostly because we value education. As Vice President of Academic Affairs, I would help students explore the most important academic resources they will find at Baruch: their professors. Baruch has some of the most accomplished professors, and students will have access to many opportunities if they are able to network with their professors outside the scope of the classroom. I have the skills and experience necessary to help students make the most of their academic careers at Baruch College. |
Daniel Edward (Campus Affairs) Hi, I am Daniel Edward and I hope to run for Vice President of Campus Affairs at Baruch College’s Undergraduate Student Government for the 2013- 2014 school year. There are a few reasons that I chose to run. First, next year I will be a senior. In my four years, I have been fortunate enough to meet great people and enjoy many benefits that Baruch has offered. One of these benefits was seeing an active student government around campus interacting and putting smiles of the faces of my peers and I. I wish to offer the same service to students around campus as was done to me. Secondly, I have worked as an event assistant at student life for almost two years. In my time setting up events, I noticed that there was a lot that could be done to make events bigger, better, and above all more beneficial to the Baruch community. By running as Vice President of Campus Affairs, I hope that I will get a chance to serve the Baruch community in organizing more beneficial and higher quality social and professional events. |
Michael Harris (Legislative Affairs) The Undergraduate Student Government at Baruch College plays a vital role in all students’ lives. If I were elected to serve as the Vice President of Legislative Affairs, I would work my hardest to improve the quality of every Baruch student’s collegiate experience. I feel I would be a great fit for this position because of my passion for legal affairs and my experience as the Vice President of the Pre-law Society here at Baruch College. If elected, I would ensure that my passion for legal matters is directed towards relevant issues on campus. Also, I would make sure that Baruch's student government has the chance to lobby on behalf of Baruch and CUNY students to the city, state and federal governments to ensure the best education and opportunities for all students. As a Macaulay Honors student, a club leader and an active member of a number of student organizations, my commitment to overall excellence is consistent. If elected as the Vice President of Legislative Affairs, I can guarantee true passion, excellence, and perseverance towards whatever duties my position may entail. I am running with Rethink Baruch because I believe the student leaders on our team and their vast differences in backgrounds and perspectives will truly contribute to a representative government. We want to improve the Baruch collegiate experience for the many, not the few. |
Sasenath Jaikaransingh (Student Services)
I am running for Vice President of Student Services (Senator) with my party ReThink Baruch. As the VP of Student Services, i hope to build a clear relationships with club leaders to make better events for students. I hope that through partnerships with other clubs, professional events will be bigger and help more Baruch students find opportunities for internships and learning valuable skills to prepare them for life after graduation. In addition to this, I would like to reach out to the everyday student by making Baruch District grow even further so that students may enjoy more discounts for being a Baruch Student. Also, I hope to increase school spirit and support for our Athletics. Finally, I hope to educate anyone who wishes to be a part of USG. |

| Representative Senators |
Abigalle Revers
My name is Abigaelle Revers, I am currently a junior majoring in accounting.
I am elated to be a candidate running for Representative Senator under the Rethink Baruch party. One of the missions on our platform addresses academic development. This is particularly relevant for me, being an accounting major and Baruch students, who have a business focus. Investing in programs and events that help Baruch students compete with other nationally ranked colleges will help us become more marketable and increase our job return rate. One of my personal key initiatives is to support our community through several outreach programs and events. I plan to work with the sustainability committee to promote green initiatives. I plan to work in conjunction with other community outreach efforts to help uplift the younger generations. I am running with a group of motivated, enthusiastic students who want to leave a legacy at Baruch. I want to be apart of the legacy that supports excellence. Excellence in the classroom and beyond it. |
Allen Meyerovich
As a student at Baruch College and an active member of various clubs on campus, I am always looking for opportunities to give back to the Baruch community and help improve it. Which is why I am running for Representative Senator of the Undergraduate Student Government of Baruch College with Rethink Baruch. If elected, I intend to support clubs and departments that promote professional development because I think it is extremely important that we empower and support our students to succeed in the workforce. I also plan to work closely with clubs in order to help them throw better events that benefit the Baruch community. Most importantly, I am looking to make the Baruch College experience exponentially better for the average student. |
Anastasia C Sourbis
Not too long ago, I chose to attend Baruch College because of its reputation and the opportunities that it provides its students. That being said, I joined the Undergraduate Student Government because of Baruch’s imperfections. I do not spite Baruch College for the things it lacks; rather these projects excite me and are the reasons why I fell in love with the school. I arrived at Baruch last fall and, upon walking into USG’s first meeting of the year, I knew it was where I wanted to be for the next four years. I wanted to be a part of this group of students who care about Baruch and want to make it a better place for its students. Working closely with Farhana Hassan on the Academic Affairs Committee this year, I have learned a great deal of about Baruch and have grown tremendously. I know the power that USG holds and I know the limitations that USG faces, but I also know USG has serious potential. I am running for the position of Representative Senator with Rethink Baruch because I want to be a voice for students in their student government. I want to graduate knowing that I had a positive impact on Baruch. |
Axelle Bougouma
Greeting, fellow Baruch students! My name is Axelle Bougouma and I am running to serve as Student Representative Senator. As a Public Affairs major, I am passionate about making a difference in Baruch and outside community. I want to serve as a voice for the student body, and enable more students to have their voices heard. I would work to encourage students to become more involved on campus by guiding them and informing them about the numerous resources in the college. Currently, I am part of the Student Center Board of Baruch’s Undergraduate Student Government. I am also Vice President of IMPACT which is the new Public Affairs Club. The knowledge, responsibility and leadership skills gained through my extracurricular activities as well as my drive and enthusiast enable me to best advocate on behalf of Baruch’s student body. I joined Rethink Baruch because the students in this team are so committed in bettering this school and I believe that the sum of our combined effort will have a magnificent impact on Baruch. |
Elizabeth Ramdass My name is Elizabeth Ramdass and I’m a Junior at Baruch College majoring in Finance with a minor in Communication Studies. I transferred into Baruch fall 2011 and I remember the difficulties in finding my way around campus and having my voice heard. I am running for Representative Senator for the Undergraduate Student Government so that I can be the voice for those who remain unheard. Baruch college has way too many individuals who do not partake in school activities or do not voice their opinions because they feel there’s no one to listen. It’s time for a change and it’s time for our student body to feel included in the Baruch community. I want to represent the everyday student, whether they’re a freshman, transfer student, international student, club member or athlete, and that is why I am running with Rethink Baruch. |
Jackie Luu
My name is Jackie Luu and I’m currently a sophomore heading in the direction of Finance. Arriving at Baruch a little over 1 and a half-years ago, it was difficult for me to adapt to Baruch and actually enjoy attending a commuter college. Since my second semester in Baruch, I’ve joined various organizations on campus and have built relationships with so many different individuals which allowed me to appreciate Baruch’s unique qualities. I was able to develop myself socially and professionally by joining organizations such as United Chinese Language Association, Delta Sigma Pi, Ascend, as well as Team Baruch. If elected to serve as a Representative Senator for the Undergraduate Student Government, I would hope to tie closer connections between the organizations on campus and USG, by using my experience in Baruch club life. I am running with Rethink Baruch, because we believe that it is extremely important for USG to have a good relationship with clubs in order for student life at Baruch to prosper. |
Jacob Gsell
My name is Jacob Gsell and I’m currently a junior majoring in Finance. Having been here at Baruch for almost 3 years now and I have seen the troubles that students have had trying to be involved with campus life. During my freshman year, I did not join any organizations nor make an effort to get involved in what was going on. Since my sophomore year I have joined a couple of different organizations, and in that I have enhanced my social activity as well as my professional development. I chose to run for Representative Senator for the Undergraduate Student Government because, if elected, I hope to help in playing a role in greater professional development for the entire student body as well as an enhanced sense of community amongst the student population. I am running with Rethink Baruch because I want to be a part of the development of opportunities for Baruch students, both professionally and socially, so that all students will be able to enter the Baruch as a student ready to learn and leave as a young, excited and passionate professional. |
Jillian Springer
My name is Jillian Springer class of 2014, and I am running for Representative Senator, in
particular, the Chair of Marketing of USG for 20132014.
As this year’s director of marketing, I
have been privileged to gather insight on the overall development of the school, its academic
standards and its student body’s social engagement. Such an incredible experience has
equipped me with a wealth of understanding and the desire to help the student body progress in
its endeavors. To assure the best representation of Baruch’s students, I believe the current
platform I am running on, Rethink Baruch, aligns well with my goal to seek out the best interest of
the students on professional and social levels. Our fellow students deserve to leave Baruch
empowered and impacted by their experience at this amazing institution, and I intend to help make that possible for everyone. |
Kirill Gourov
It is with pleasure that I announce my candidacy for the position of Representative Senator with Rethink Baruch. Through my years at Baruch, I have been able to learn about the organizational structure of students' involvement at Baruch, from the student government, to the club levels. I have seen the main issue among recent student government: they push events and ideas instead of pulling. With over 14,000 students at Baruch, the main needs and priorities of the majority have not been focused on, something I hope to change. My focus will be on bringing additional professional opportunities on campus and supporting developmental organizations in their achieving their mission and goals. Different ideas include industry conferences, additional career fairs and forums and a focus on corporate outreach and sponsorship. |
Nusaybah Quasem
I am Nusaybah Quasem, a sophomore of our beloved Baruch College. As a freshman, I was wrapped into the Baruch Community with love. I owed Baruch for providing me a home away from home. Over time, I was blessed to have met amazing student bodies like the Muslim Students’ Association, Women in Islam, Admissions Ambassadors and TEAM Baruch and I am in search of more. As a responsible member of the Baruch community, I want to voice the concerns of Baruch students and help them feel the same love that I felt when I walked into Baruch. Now I have found a chance to give back to the college by running as a Representative Senator with Rethink Baruch. I have seen the hard work of the senators during their meetings and their exemplary attitudes inspired me to step to help clubs make Baruch more than just an educational institution. Also, as a student who always was at a close proximity with her fellow classmates and professors, if elected, I will use this opportunity to make Baruch’s student services be more exposed to the average student. |
Olavo De Paula
My name is Olavo de Paula and I am a Junior and I am currently the President of
the ALPFA Baruch College Chapter. I would like to announce that I am running for the
position of Representative Senator of the Undergraduate Student Government for the
2013-2014 term. I will be running alongside “ReThink Baruch” and I am very excited to
participate in the election process. The reason why I chose to run for a student
government position is because I believe my experience with a club who focuses on
professional development will put me in a position to add value to next semester’s team.
If elected, I will make sure to push for events and for the allocation of our budget that
benefits the student who wants a job by the time they graduate. Thank you for your support of my candidacy on the Undergraduate Student Government. |
Robert Baazashvili
My name is Robert Baazashvili and I am running to become a Representative Senator for USG with Rethink Baruch because I want to give back to the Baruch community. I want to change the perspectives of the countless Baruch students who feel that Baruch has no college campus atmosphere because we are just a commuter school. There is so much that this college has to offer for both professional development and a social collegiate experience, yet students remain oblivious. I know of these opportunities because I am involved on campus, but I want to help more students explore the resources and connections within Baruch. I believe that working as a Senator for USG will be the perfect platform to influence the atmosphere at Baruch and increase our school spirit. I really want to exceed student expectations and help students with their career paths in a meaningful way. I want them to leave Baruch on a positive note and knowing that my team and I might make such an impact is truly a wonderful feeling. |
Saransh Khanna
My name is Saransh Khanna and I am running for Representative Senator. Having my undergraduate college experience at Baruch has led it to become a home away from home. Although, a commuter school, Baruch has been a place where I was able to build relationships and thrive in my chosen field of studies. As a representative senator, I wish to give back and increase opportunities for many other students to better utilize the resources that are available to them and implement additional resources to enhance their college experience and Undergraduate Student Government serves an excellent medium to accomplish just that. Being involved on campus as a club leader, I was able get a better understanding of the crucial role USG plays building and promoting school spirit and student activities. By having a more active role in student government, it will allow me to work hands on towards reforms and additions that are necessary to ensure a rewarding experience for the student body and address the matters with faculty that directly affects student life. |

| University Student Senate Delegate |
Cynthia Rolden
My name is Cynthia Roldan and I am running for University Student Senate Delegate for the Undergraduate Student Government of Baruch College with Rethink Baruch. After attending the African American Puerto Rican Aisian Caucus in Albany last month, I realized that for the past four years Baruch has kept itself apart from all other CUNY campuses. That while all the other campuses come together and have hosted great events outside of their individual budgets, Baruch's leaders have looked down and refused to work with the rest of CUNY. I propose that we work together and rekindle our relationships with all CUNY campuses. That we co-sponsor with other CUNY campuses to throw large events for all CUNY students. That we pave the way to show lawmakers that CUNY students are united force that they can no longer ignore. Baruch is an amazing place and has many amazing students and resources, but so do all of the CUNY campuses, it's time we work together. I will work with all CUNY campus leaders to make sure CUNY's voice is heard, to throw bigger and better events that would not be possible without collaboration, to lobby for Baruch, our student body and the welfare of all CUNY students. |
David Montesdoesca
I am running for this position because I believe that we as students deserve better representation on the University Student Senate. I believe that an effective Undergraduate Student Government should encourage and actively participate in student development. This development must entail professional, social, educational and civic engagement. As a representative I would uphold these principles to the best of my ability and always keep in mind the constituents that I would represent, which is working college students who commute here from all over the city. As a representative from one of the most diverse University’s in the country it’s important to emphasize that these include undocumented, international and students of color who have historically been excluded from participating in CUNY policy. We, as students, need to voice our concerns when it relates to our education because we are the ones most affected by them. |
| |
| University Student Senate Alternate Delegate |

Farhana Hassan |
Jean Bouda
I understand that the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) at Baruch College is one of the many student service organizations that advocate for Students’ Rights, Justice, Peace and Unity. As a current transfer student and member of the African Student Association at Baruch, I have learned the most important issues affecting our fellow students’ life and what it takes to help them effectively. Through my experience as a student, my interactions in club life and at the CUNY Emerging Leadership Conference at Baruch, I recognize that economic, health, employment, housing, socialization, and education are some of those issues concerning our students. I want to represent students on those issues by becoming an elected member of USG and this is why I am running to be a University Student Senator Alternate Delegate and a Faculty/Student Disciplinary Board member. If elected, I hope to fulfill my duties of those positions as well as serve on the various committees of USG. If I am given the chance, I will collaborate with our Baruch Community personnel such as faculty, administration and other individuals to assure appropriate treatment of any student's cultural, religious, and social background, physical or mental limitations and sexual orientation. I’m a pro-student and pro-higher education mind. I am convinced that students themselves are the best advocacy resource available at hand to bring “integrity” and “dignity” to our Undergraduate Student Government at Baruch. The team I am running with is Rethink Baruch and my slogan will always be “Students Serving Students." |

| Board of Directors - Baruch College Association,
Inc. |
Avi Atkin
As the student representative to the Baruch College Board of Directors, my aim is to ensure decisions our made in the best interests of students. The position demands fiscal accountability and legal analysis along with an awareness of what students really need. My experience as President of Hillel, Baruch Auxiliary Enterprises BOD, and my work at a law firm will be invaluable in serving you. |
Dustin Moy
My name is Dustin Moy and I am thrilled to tell you that I am running for Board of Directors in Baruch's Undergraduate Student Government. I decided to run for this position after being approached by several candidates and hearing about what it is like to give back to the school by actively participating in USG. I hope to give back to the Baruch community by doing my best to fulfill the needs and desires of the student body. I will leverage my prior and current position as Treasurer and President, respectively, of the Chess Club to the best of my ability in order to fulfill my duties as a member of the board. |
James Uske
As I close out my time as an undergraduate at Baruch College I want to ensure that I have done everything I could to help improve the opportunities and experiences for the present and future undergraduates at Baruch College. One way this could be accomplished is to utilize as many resources as possible that this school has to offer in order to enhance the social and professional skills along with opportunities for undergraduates that are essential to succeed in life after Baruch. One resource that can make such an impact is the Undergraduate Student Government. After serving on 3 different executive boards between Phi Eta Sigma and Golden Key during my time here at Baruch, I have come to realize that there are many improvements that can be made on the part of the USG to make Baruch College as a whole a much more rewarding experience.
If I am elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Baruch College Association, Inc., I pledge to convey student interests every step along the way in the decision making process of the board. I also pledge to actively participate and contribute to the various committees of USG to give back to the Baruch community. As an elected representative, I will be devoted to fulfill my responsibilities as a member of the Board of Directors, and also see through the incredible goals that my fellow USG members will have set forth. |

| Board of Directors - Auxiliary Enterprises Corp. |
Saleh Mugannahi
Baruch is a second home for many of us. We have lunch together, network together, take classes together, study together and the list goes on. Every year a political party runs for the Undergraduate Student Government Elections for the sake of making Baruch a better place. Today I am joining a great team called Rethink Baruch by running for the Board of Directors, Auxiliary Enterprises Corporation, with them. As a student and a very involved club member, I am excited to offer my perspective to next year's team if elected. Along with our team, I am going to do my very best to fulfill my duty and beyond and leave a positive difference in our college. |
Sobin Babu My name is Sobin Babu and I’m a junior at Baruch College majoring in Accountancy with a minor in Communication Studies. I will bring my hard work and dedication to student government. I am running for the Auxiliary Board, primarily because I want to make a difference, I want to help my fellow Baruch students succeed. The biggest problem I feel is that the everyday student doesn’t have good direction. If elected I will do everything in my power to help change this. |
Tasnia Mostafa
Undergraduate Student Government is a great organization that helps build community within the student body. I have been a committee member of the Student Services, Finance, Arts & Community Outreach and Campus Affairs committee. I have worked on various projects with these committees starting from the 'Bearcat Express' newsletter, Fiscal guidelines for club budgets, 'Love Bid', 'Art Gala,' &' Baruch's Got Talent' show. USG is very important and special to me because it allows to grow as a person and motivate others along the way. I'm running for Board of Directors, Auxiliary Board Enterprises Corp. with Rethink Baruch. I believe my experience with USG, enthusiasm, and dedication make me an excellent candidate for this position. |
| |
| Faculty/Student Disciplinary Committee |
Dinorahon Yusupora My name is Dinorahon Yusupova and I am running for the undergraduate student government Faculty/Student Disciplinary Committee with the ReThink Baruch party. I believe every student's opinion matters and I vow to represent the student body to the best of my ability. Our platform has a number of bright ideas, all aimed to improve the college experience for our fellow scholars and we are excited for the opportunity to execute these plans. |
| |
| Athletic Board |
Asaf Yashayev
I am Asaf Yashayev and I want to run for Athletics Board for Rethink Baruch. I am currently the Treasurer of Baruch Hillel and I believe I will be a great asset to USG. I have a history of planning amazing events, brainstorming ideas, and working well with a big group of people to accomplish a similar goal. If elected I will try my hardest to make amazing sports events for the school. I want students to give more involved on campus and I believe sports events can help accomplish that. I want to thank you for reading my statement and I hope working with you in the future. |
Dona Sansone
My name is Dona Sansone, and I wish to run for the Undergraduate Student Government as part of the Athletic Board for the "ReThink Baruch" campaign. I am currently a freshman in my second semester at Baruch. As a student athlete, I care deeply about Baruch’s student life and I believe that expanding its athletic program is the one of the keys to building school spirit. Being a part of the women’s varsity basketball team, I’ve witnessed not only the success of my team, but of the other Baruch teams as well. All of the great successes that we athletes have achieved has helped me realize that it is important for all Baruch students to take part in and be proud of all of our school’s impressive athletic achievements. If I were chosen to work on the Athletics Board, I would work to improve and expand Baruch’s athletic department, so that every Baruch student may feel like a part of the "Bearcat Nation" that the athletes have worked so hard to build. |
Mana Kanatsu
When I was a freshman at Baruch College, I was reluctant in joining club organizations and was not affiliated much with the student body. It was difficult for me to make new friends and be part of the student life. I decided prematurely that my college life would not be pleasant in a commuter school like Baruch College. In my sophomore year, however, I decided to be part of two clubs; Absolute Adrenaline and AIESEC. I became involved in these clubs more by taking the Director and events coordinator positions. I felt I was finally part of the student body and felt the satisfaction that I was looking for since freshman year. From that moment, I realized that the dissatisfactions Baruch students have with their college life isn’t because Baruch is a commuter school, but simply because they are not involved in the club activities as much as they could. Thus, I realized this would be a great opportunity to run under the Undergraduate Student Government and become a helping hand to as many Baruch students as possible. I am confident that I could influence Baruch students to change their mind set into a positive one towards the student life. |
| |
| Communications Board |
Gai Ho
I would like to run for USG, communication board because as an Advertising Communication - Marketing Major, I feel the urge to help promote and gather students of Baruch college to many events hosted by 160+ clubs and organizations at Baruch College. USG will give me the chance to make greater promotion and better communication with the resources USG will have available. I am also passionate on what this team stands for in promoting better connections, which will rely on communication and more collaboration within student's clubs and organization. I also firmly believe in connecting with Baruch Alumni because they can be a great resource in getting students a step into the door of a job they want. I hope you can see my passion and why I am running for USG. Let's go ReThinkBaruch. |
Rasheed Shahzad
I want to run Communication Board, Baruch College Association, Inc because I think it is an opportunity for me to develop my skills of leader ship. Interaction with different people of the club and solving their problems would be fun and challenge for me. This would polish my personality to work better in future. As an Asian I would be better representing their problems and issues they have. |
Samantha Lee
My name is Samantha Lee and I am running for the Communications Board for RTB (Rethink Baruch). I am running to primarily help out the clubs that I am a part of (primarily for the first club that welcomed me in: The Transfer Student Organization). I want greater and more successful events to be implemented for every niche the clubs I'm in--as well as every other club here in Baruch--strives to attract. As a designer, I feel USG will present to me several new challenges that I will learn to overcome, thus allowing me to be more flexible with different styles and expectations. |
| |
| Student Center Board |
Christopher Eubanks As a current member of the Transfer Student Organization, I get to speak to many incoming students about what type of experience they want and expect to have in Baruch College. I am running as a candidate for Undergraduate Student Government's Student Center Board position because I want to ensure that Baruch provides every student with memorable an experience that helps prepares them for opportunities in the future and they truly enjoy. I'm excited to run with a group that is very diverse and creative, but has a common goal in mind. |
Garrison Wu
My name is Garrison Wu. I am currently a sophomore going into Finance. This is my fourth semester here at Baruch, but I did not actively participate on campus in events and clubs until my third semester. During my first two semesters, I did not have the motivation to do well in school, and I did not perform as well as I wanted to in my classes. I started to actively participate in clubs in the beginning of my third semester. During my third semester at Baruch, I started to actively participate in the student organizations that Baruch has to offer. Since then I have met and made friends with a lot of successful peers. Seeing their success has given me motivation to work harder in school to build a foundation for my future.
I am running for Student Center Board with Rethink Baruch. Along with my peers in Rethink Baruch, I want to promote school involvement to all Baruch students. Baruch has so much resources to help students succeed in their studies and build foundations for their careers in the future, but many students do not utilize them. I was unaware of many of these resources until my peers enlightened me. I am sure there are many students that are just like me. I want to make these resources known to every student and encourage them to utilize it. |
Xiao Liang
My name is Xiao. I am currently a junior, major in Finance. I have spent three years in Baruch College. Through this time frame, I realize I have changed a lot. I immigrated to the United States five years ago. Therefore, when I first stepped in college, I was not confident. I always sited in the last row in class and never participated. Three years later, I am confident and able to seize every opportunity that I see. Baruch College has a lot of talented people that are always willing to help out students. Their helps have made me landed a great summer internship opportunity at a multinational bank. I’ve been acting like a taker from this extraordinary community; I think it is time for me to pay it forward. As my last year of college is approaching, I would like take on a position at Student Government, to share my ideas that will benefit may fellow classmates. |

| Student Media Council |
Dan Tran
I'm running for USG because I feel that for the past two years I've been in Baruch, the student government has not made any major impact throughout my years in college. After listening to Henry's proposal on how Rethink Baruch plans to change Baruch, I felt inspired and motivated to be part of the change. From allocating the budget more effectively and efficiently so we can improve student life to cultivating professionalism throughout the student body - I believe that Rethink Baruch is the right choice for our school. |

My name is Vasyl Pyrozhyk, I'm a lower senior at Baruch studying Finance and Investments. Ever since day one Baruch had fascinated me with its variety of opportunities. A large chunk of what makes me who I'm today had been factored in thanks to Baruch College; the study abroad experience, creating an organization, classes that gave much insight and answered questions, yet most importantly people that I've met who will continue being a huge part of my life as it goes. To me that's invaluable and what motivates me to run with Rethink Baruch is a platform and the team that envisions using its delegated power to bring more awareness to all these opportunities for every student while improving efficiency and bringing new ones for the greater good. I want to help bring that vision to reality and make sure more students end up using this opportunities alike myself. Hence being on the Board of Directors of Student Media Council I hope to improve transparency and efficiency of student media while making sure that they are behaving within the framework of their respective constitutions. |

Being that I transferred to Baruch College in Fall 2011, I struggled a little finding my place in this vast community. Whenever I meet a follow transfer, I immediately tell my story about how I transformed from a shy turtle peeking out of its shell to a bold panther prowling for the next big thing. In other words, I was becoming more active on campus in student life and proactive in the search for internships, instead of hiding out in the library. However, this past semester affected me the most because I was given a number of opportunities to grow as a leader, to build myself professionally, socially and academically. Currently, I am the President of the Multi-ethnic Student Organization, Executive Vice President of the Transfer Student Organization, and Philanthropy Chair of Alpha Kappa Psi. I am running this position for I connect and deeply support the Rethink Baruch platform for it truly caters to the needs of the average student, who might not have benefited by USG before. I strongly believe in what this party can offer and that all students will feel inspired to participate. Rebrand, Rebuild, Restore, Rethink! |

I would like announce my candidacy for the "Student Center Board" under the platform "Rethink Baruch". I believe my experience at Baruch College thus far suits me for the role. I am active in planning and executing various on-campus events from the "Moon Festival" hosted by UCLA to fundraising for Relay For Life. I believe this role will further foster my professional development in addition to helping me to build my communication skills. |

As an active member of Baruch College campus life, I have had ample opportunity to understand the importance of being an active member of student life to supplement academic learning. As part of the Student Building Fund Committee, I will ensure that Baruch's funds are being properly appropriated to the student building fund and that the building is an environment that all students will appreciate.
I am proud to announce that I will be running the Rethink Baruch, and assisting to expanding student life benefits to all of our commuter students. |

| Student Programming Board |
Connor Levens
After thoroughly reading both The Informer and the Undergraduate Student Government Election Procedures packet as published by the Student Life office, I, Connor Levens, have decided that I can provide tremendous aide and benefit to the Baruch College student body by running for Undergraduate Student Government [USG] as a member of the Programming Board with the ReThink Baruch (RTB) party. While both extra-curricula and professional atmospheres are already present and somewhat successful across the college’s campus, each of the two aspects continue to lack the pertinent ability to draw in commuter students who have jobs or schedules revolving around miscellaneous tasks outside of school. These are students who have as much of a privilege to contribute to “club life” as full-time students but are either unaware or lack the interest or drive to get involved.
The platform my party and I are running on aims to shift a sort of “student morale” by drawing more students toward the club life atmosphere in and around Baruch College. We seek to challenge the college’s ability to provide additional workshops for students that set higher than average standards for themselves, while at the same time improving core workshops. In addition, we’re interested in demonstrating with facts what the college’s administration has and is doing to benefit students year-round. |

I am thrilled to have been chosen as group member of Rethink Baruch. Having been offered the position of Student Programming Board I will be part of a team that dedicates their time and effort to create social and recreational activities for students in campus. My goal is to enhance the experience that students receive at Baruch; involve them in diverse arrays of entertainment to remind them that school is also a place where people can come and enjoy themselves. Using the student's voice and their preferences, I believe that we can make the campus experience a great one for each individual. I want to see students involved in the planning and organization of events, after all this school would no be such a fun place to be without them. |

Hello my name is Scott Fine and I am running for the position of Student Programming for Rethink Baruch. The reason why I want to run for a position with Student Government is because I feel that this is a great way to give back to the Baruch community and inspire a positive atmosphere on campus. Since transferring to Baruch and becoming involved with student life I have made great relationships with fellow classmates and I look forward to continuing these relationships after graduation. I am extremely grateful to be going to school at Baruch and with this nomination I will continue to influence my colleagues to succeed academically and professionally. |

I really believe in College Students to change the future. I believe we have the power to influence the future, through our work-spheres as well as our future children. The interests we have will change the world. Health and Wellness plays a vital role in our lives. A healthy life consists of a balanced nutrition, exercise as well as happiness and emotional health. Our community at Baruch has made great strides towards a healthier lifestyle. I have events that I would like to see executed on our campus that would strengthen our community as a whole as well as promote individual healthy living. |

As growing concerns of illnesses are made aware in America, it is imperative that there is sufficient education on how to uphold a healthy lifestyle. With ailments such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc., the Baruch community can no longer remain ignorant to the issues that can affect their everyday lives and the people close to them. With that said, I will like to run for the Health Advisory Board on the Rethink Baruch party. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Health and Wellness, Megan Aronson on several events has brought light for the need for not only physical, but mental and emotional health education on issues that impact college students on a daily basis. With this position I will encourage the student body to get involved with activities that will not only educate, but excite them on a sustaining a healthier lifestyle. |
