STEP Academy

About STEP

The STEP Academy is designed to provide program activities to assist students in acquiring the skills and attitude necessary to pursue post secondary education leading to careers in scientific, technical or health-related fields, or the licensed professions. To this end, the Academy has the following goals:

  • To expose students to numerous careers requiring basic and advanced skills in mathematics and science.
  • To provide students with opportunities to meet with role models and community leaders who may enhance their career and academic goals.
  • To provide its participants with a creative and innovative learning experience.
  • To expose parents to various workshops that will assist them in taking an active role in their children's academic lives.

Students participating in Baruch College's STEP Academy program are highly motivated to learn more about math and science and come from many different middle and high schools in the New York City region.

The Science and Technology Entry Program is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department, Office of K-16 Initiatives and Access Programs.
