| 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM | Findings of 40 years of research have produced a sophisticated understanding of the forces behind workplace gender bias. Dr. Bielby will describe alternative visions for moving towards a bias-free workplace, effective and viable strategies based on factors such as organizational context, and reaction from constituencies in and out of the workplace. William T. Bielby holds a position as professor of sociology at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and is also Distinguished Research Scholar in the University of Arizona’s Department of Sociology. He is now researching the factors that impact racial diversity in corporate hierarchies, social networks on career advancement, and the influences shaping attitudes on workplace policies regarding diversity and nondiscrimination.
