educational leadership program

We value our partnerships with other key institutions. As a testament to that commitment, we offer educators both the School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Leader (SDL) certifications in partnership with the New York City Department of Education, New Leaders, Inc. and the New York City Leadership Academy. These certifications allow you to pursue careers as assistant principals, principals, and superintendents of public, private, and charter schools. Our faculty are school professionals and administrators with advanced degrees and considerable managerial experience in public education.

After completing SBL or SDL courses, educators may take an additional 33 credits to obtain the Masters of Science in Education, Educational Leadership (MSEd-EL).

Degree and Program Requirements

To obtain SBL certification, students must complete 24 graduate-level credits.
To obtain SDL certification, students are required to complete an additional 15 course credits.

In addition to the credit requirements listed above, students must provide or complete the following by the end of the program:

  • Institutional recommendation from Baruch College
  • State certification in teaching or pupil personnel services with 3 years of paid full-time experience
  • Child abuse and violence prevention workshop completion
  • Fingerprint clearance
