Neil G. Bennett

Neil G. Bennett is Director of the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research, a Professor in the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College and in the sociology department at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His expertise lies both in mathematical and social demography. He was the founding Executive Director of the New York Census Research Data Center, one of only nine such centers around the country, where scholars can gain extraordinary access to data produced by the Census Bureau. Prior to coming to Baruch, Bennett held appointments at Yale University, where he was Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the department of sociology, as well as Columbia University and The University of Michigan. He received his Ph.D. in sociology at Princeton University, with a specialization in mathematical demography, and Sc.B. in applied mathematics at Brown University. Bennett has also served on various boards of directors, including those of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Guttmacher Institute.
