Biography
Nancy R. Aries, Ph.D., is Professor at the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College. She also holds an appointment in the Department of Community Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She is the recipient of an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellowship and is spending the 2008-09 academic year at a host institution working under the mentorship of the college president and senior staff. Her areas of concentration are health policy and management. Her research interests include the implementation of the Medicare Modernization Act and the impact of drug benefit design on prescription drug spending. In addition, she has studied the competing nature of workforce and patient diversity on the provision of hospital based services, medical professionalism, the economic impact of biomedical research and reproductive health policy with a focus on abortion and teenage pregnancy. Her work has been published in the American Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law, and Health Care Management Review. Dr. Aries earned her A.B. at the University of Michigan with a concentration in Urban Studies and Ph.D. in Social Policy at the Florence Heller School at Brandeis University.
