Prospective Students
An Overview of the Career Services Office
Once you are a student with the School of Public Affairs (SPA), you will be able to register with the Career Services Office and receive a full array of services. You will have access to job and internship opportunities and events such as Job Fairs, On-Campus Recruitment and Topical Panels, as well as mock interview practice, and resume and cover letter reviews.
Access to Job Listings
There are two methods for receiving job and internship announcements from the SPA Career Services Office. One method is from College Central, a free on-line job service specifically designed for students and alumni from the School of Public Affairs. Another method is via the Career listserv, where you will receive numerous up-to-date announcements.
On-Campus Recruitment and Job Fairs
Each academic year, employers are invited to visit the campus to disseminate agency-specific information, interview for specific jobs, and/or attend the School of Public Affairs Annual Nonprofit and Government Career Fairs. We offer Networking Socials for alumni and topic-related panels such as Careers in Development/Fundraising and Consulting for a Nonprofit. All events are open to School of Public Affairs’ students and alumni.
Internships (For credit and Not for credit)
Many paid and nonpaid internships are listed with the Career Services Office from a variety of public and nonprofit organizations.
Resume Book
Upon graduation, your resume will be submitted with other graduates from the School of Public Affairs for publication in the Resume Book. The Resume Book is distributed to over 600 public, nonprofit, educational and health-related employers.
Alumni Services
Alumni have access to all of the above-mentioned services offered from the School of Public Affairs Career Services Office.
