Tuition, Scholarships & Financial Aid

The most significant type of financial aid offered by Baruch's School of Public Affairs is the considerable tuition subsidy provided for all students by New York City and New York State. Tuition and fees at the School of Public Affairs are as little as one-third those of comparable schools of public affairs. We also offer students a number of different financial opportunities, including scholarships, graduate assistantships and paid internship opportunities.

General Information
Graduate students are considered full-time when enrolled in 12 or more graduate credits during a given semester. Residents of the state of New York benefit from a fixed rate of tuition when enrolled for full-time study at Baruch College. Residents of other states, full- and part-time, as well as full-time International students pay their tuition per graduate credit. The Executive MPA program is exclusively on Saturdays, yet is considered a full-time program, since it requires the completion of 42 credits within a two-year period. New York state residents in the Executive MPA program also benefit from a fixed cost. It includes program tuition, course textbooks, student activity and technology fees, meals, off-site events, a customized laptop computer, use of college facilities, and administrative fees. Residents of other states in the Executive MPA program pay an additional amount over and above in-state tuition, which is equal to the difference between out-of-state and in-state per credit tuition for each graduate credit in our traditional programs.

Scholarships
The School of Public Affairs offers several scholarships to incoming and continuing students. Criteria for these merit-based scholarships are academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to public service. Scholarships are generally applied directly to tuition. Admitted Applicants are automatically considered for scholarships depending on the funding available. Scholarship applications for continuing students are made available in March for the following fall semester. All continuing students that qualify will be notified of application availability via mail.

Graduate Assistantships
All entering full-time students are eligible for Graduate Assistantships. Interested students should complete the Graduate Assistantship Application (pages 19 & 20 of the Graduate Application). Graduate Assistants work for faculty members for an average of 20 hours per week on research and public administration projects. Stipends vary, but on average students are paid $15/ hour. Some GA positions include tuition. As these positions are competitive, early application submission is strongly encouraged. The priority deadline for GA applications is April 1.

Financial Aid
The primary Federal Loans programs available to U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens is based on financial need and requires submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
