New York City Housing Authority Executive Leadership Development Program

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Executive Leadership Development Program seeks to develop its department directors, concentrating particularly on problem solving, communication skills, and the continuation of quality service and service excellence during fiscal changes. The program provides, in the context of NYCHA’s strategic planning process, an intensive, collaborative experience in a) setting goals, b) aligning staff with goals, c) commissioning research necessary to specify and implement goals, and d) communicating the importance of goals to staff, superiors, legislative leaders, and the broader public. Staff participating in the program will strengthen their understanding of and ability to perform effectively in each area. While NYCHA will serve as the primary example, the basic principles have been framed to be applicable to service in any governmental or large nonprofit organization.

Topics covered are:

  • Management and Leadership in a Large Organization
  • Session 2: Policy Planning
