National Urban Fellows

National Urban Fellows MPA Program
Through its leadership development programs, National Urban Fellows, Inc. has successfully prepared over 900 mid-career men and women of all ethnic and racial backgrounds for leadership and management positions in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Fellows are exposed to a unique combination of academic training and hands-on experience in a nine-month mentorship with a prominent public official, administrator or manager.

Program Design:
National Urban Fellows is a rigorous 14-month, full-time graduate program comprised of two semesters of academic course work and a nine-month mentorship, leading to a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Baruch College/ City University of New York. An MPA degree is awarded to Fellows upon completion of all academic and program requirements.

Curriculum Structure:

  • First Summer Semester - Students will begin their first semester of classes at Baruch College.

  • Nine Month Mentorship Assignment - Students begin working at selected mentor sites. Classes will      be conducted online during this phase of the program. Placements are nationwide and Fellows are      expected to relocate to the city of their assignment.
