Jane Clement Bond (Ph.D., University College, London University) is a historian of modern France, with special expertise in the 19th and 20th centuries and also with an interest in modern European social and intellectual history. Her area of research is the French working class during World War I. She has taught courses in world history, 19th and 20th-century European history, modern European women’s history, World War I, the Third French Republic, and 17th-century French history. She has now nearly completed a book entitled, Trade Unionism and Anti-war Sentiments Among Metal Workers During World War I: The Case of Bourges, France. She is a member of the New York Area French History Seminar, the Association for French Cultural Studies, and a member of the Visiting Committee of the Graduate Faculty of Social Sciences of New School University.
