Test Taking Tips

1. Get plenty of sleep the night before.

2. Arrive early and get settled.

3. Know what to expect on the test.

4. Read the directions carefully.

5. Scan the entire test.

6. Plan how much time to spend on each section (multiple choice questions need less time than essay questions).

7. If you get stuck on a question (common in math and multiple choice questions) move on.

8. Make notes (i.e. write down formulas, key words) in the margins of the exam; this will help prevent you from going blank.

9. Don't pay attention to what your peers are doing. Some people work fast; others need more time.
