Q. What will you help me with?
English tutors will:
Help you at every stage of the writing process particularly during the beginning stages. They will help you to prepare for assignments by brainstorming and thinking through different approaches to writing. Tutors can help you to identify problems in the drafting stage so that you can better revise your paper. They can help you with grammar issues and will show YOU how to proofread your own paper.
English tutors will not:
Rewrite your papers. They are NOT a proofreading service.

Q. I have a paper due tomorrow and I would like a tutor to look it over. Is this permissible?
While it is permissible, keep in mind that the tutor will not make the corrections to your paper; they will highlight the areas where there are weaknesses. Ideally, bring in a paper at least a week before it is due so that there is enough time for you to make your own revisions.

Q. English is not my native language. Can you help students who have ESL issues?
Yes. Individual tutors are available as is Plato, an interactive software program. Plato is proving to be very useful for students who are still learning to master English.
