Q. How long is the January Intersession at Baruch College?
A. January 2008 Intersession classes begin January 2, 2008 and end January 18, 2008. Final exam will be held on the last day of classes.

Q. How do I register for January Intersession Courses?
A. Online registration for January Intersession will be available from November 13, 2007 to January 1, 2008. Login to your eSIMS account and select registration for “Fall 2007”. January Intersession is considered as second session of Fall semester. (click here for registration dates by group)
In-person late registration will be held on January 2, 2008 at the Registrar’s Office.

Q. Will I receive the bill for January intersession in the mail?
A. No. Your bill will be available on eSIMS. You may also pick up a copy of your bill from the Bursar’s Office or the Registrar's Office.
Q. Is online payment available for January Intersession?
A. Yes. Login to your eSIMS account and select 'Semester Bill'.
Q. How many courses may I register during January Intersession?
A. Students in good academic standing are allowed to register for two courses for January Intersession. Students on probation (both undergraduate and graduate) are allowed to register for one course only. Graduate students who have taken all 12 probation credits as of the fall 2007 semester are not permitted to register for the January 2008 intersession and should submit an appeal to the Graduate Committee on Academic Standing meeting to register for courses in the Spring 2008 semester.
Graduate students who were previously reinstated by the Graduate Committee on Academic Standing are not permitted to register for the January 2008 intersession, or Spring 2008 until grades have been received to determine if the reinstatement conditions have been met.
Graduate students who are on academic probation, and have used up to 9 of the allowable 12 probation credits as of the Fall 2007 can register for one course, 3 credits, in the January intersession pending receipt of Fall 2007 grades. An appeal for reinstatement must be submitted to the Graduate Committee on Academic Standing meeting to take courses in the Spring 2008 semester in the event that a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, or reinstatement condition has not been achieved.
Q. May I participate in the Study Abroad Program during January Intersession?

Q. Can I take permit courses outside of Baruch during January Intersession?
A. Yes. (click here for application deadline)
- Students who intend to take classes at a non CUNY school, Outgoing Permit Applications Instructions are available at the Registrar’s Office and also on the web site. Completed applications, signed by an academic department advisor may be mailed or brought in to the Registrar's Office. The processing period for the application is 3-5 business days. Students are responsible to pick up your outgoing permit application from the Registrar’s Office.Once the above procedure is completed, take them to your Host College and register.
- Students who intend to go to another CUNY school must submit the request through http://epermit.cuny.edu
Through e-Permit, students can file an online request and it will be processed online. Students are kept informed of the progress of their permit request throughout the approval process. If a request is rejected, a student will be notified electronically of the reason for the disapproval.
Q. If I satisfy all requirements for graduation during the January Intersession, can I graduate in February 2008?
A. Yes. If the classes taken during the January/Winter Intersession complete the requirements for graduation, students are eligible for February 2008 graduation. Students must submit their graduation application by November 5, 2007. (Application for Graduation)
Q. I am an International Student. Do I have to register for January Intersession?
A. January Intersession is an optional semester. International students are not required to register during Intersession to maintain their status.
Q. What is the tuition for January Intersession?
A. Students are charged per credit for January Intersession classes. Following is the tuition for Intersession:

Q. Are there fees involved beside the tuition for January Intersession?
A. Yes.
- If you are already registered as a full time student for Fall 2007 semester you will not be charged any extra fees.
- If you are registered as a part time student for Fall 2007, and also register for January Intersession, and the combined credits are less than 12, you will not be charged any extra fees.
- If you are registered as a part time student for Fall 2007, and also register for January Intersession, and the combined credits equal to 12 or more credits, you will be charged the full time Technology fee.
- If you did not register for Fall 2007 semester and registering for the January Intersession 2008, you will be charged the Activity fee, Consolidated Service fee and the Technology fee for part time students.
Q. Can Financial Aid (TAP, PELL, etc) be used for the January Intersession?
A. The only aid that can be used for January Intersession is a portion of Pell. Note: if you decide to use your Pell money for January Intersession, your Pell may be reduced for Spring 2008 semester. For more information contact the Financial Aid Office. TAP, APTS, Part time TAP, loan, scholarships can not be used for January Intersession.
Q. Will the AMS Payment plan be available for January Intersession Courses?
A. No.
Q. If I register and do not pay tuition and fees for January Intersession 2008 will the classes be dropped for nonpayment?
A. No. But a Bursars stop ‘B’ will be put on your record on January 7th. This Stop will prevent you from Spring 2008 registration or any change of program.
Q. If I register and decide not to attend courses for January Intersession, what should I do?
A. You must drop your classes for January Intersession if you decide not to attend. A refund may be paid. The amount depends on when you drop the class. Check the Academic Calendar for January Intersession 2008.
Q. Will my refund be credited towards the Spring 2008 semester?
A. No.
Q. If I register for 3 credits in January Intersession and 9 credits in Fall 2007 am I considered a full time students?
A. No. January Intersession is an optional semester. Registering for intersession does not change your registration status for Fall.
Q. I am an International Student. Do the credits taken during January Intersession count towards the credits that I have to take during Spring Semester?
A. No. January Intersession is an optional semester. Registering for January Intersession does not change your registration status for Fall or Spring.
Q. I did not register for Fall 2007 semester, can I register for January intersession?
A. If your last semester of attendance was Spring 2007, you may register for January Intersession. However, you need to file a reentry application for Spring 2008. You may login to eSIMS and register for January Intersession with Fall semester.
If your last semester attendance was prior to Spring 2007 you must file a Reentry Application for January Intersession and Spring 2008. Reentry Application
