Commercial property owners can apply to receive an energy audit from NYSERDA. In New York City, commercial property owners will be required to audit every 10 years as part of the Greener Greater Buildings Plan.
Certified auditors will visit a building and systematically analyze its components to see where energy loss may be occurring.
The auditor will make recommendations to the property owner which would be likely to result in cost savings. NYSERDA's auditing fees are waived if the owner submits proof of implementation of energy-saving changes.
