NYC Energy Conservation Code
The NYC Energy Conservation Code's new local laws are designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and require Covered buildings to benchmark energy and water consumption and perform energy audits. Retro-commission base building systems for buildings that exceed 50,000 gross square feet are also required.

The Pergolis Urban Gallery: A Look Back
Housed in the Institute’s home at 137 East 22nd Street in Manhattan, the Pergolis Urban Gallery showcased programs that explored the real estate, urban planning, and urban design issues that affect all of New York City and the metropolitan region in the 21st century.
A Seminar on Real Estate Prices and Financial Markets
Held in 2007, it featured Yale University economist Robert Shiller, author of Irrational Exuberance.
The City Roundtable
It examined real estate issues as they affected public policy in metropolitan New York. Over a period of five years, each of the five boroughs was analyzed and discussed; consideration of the impact of Jersey City followed. Events included “Harlem in Our Eyes,” “Jersey City: New York's Sixth Borough?” “Staten Island: Borough/Suburb/Regional Link.”
Development Conferences
These daylong events examined major issues facing the private and public sector leadership of metropolitan New York's real estate planning communities. The conferences featured major presentations on development options and focused on the financing, business impact, and public-policy consequences development options presented.
Events included Midtown-West: Madison Square Garden's Vision, Greenpoint/Williamsburg, The Hudson Yards Plan, and Midtown-West: Manhattan's Future.
A Real Estate Forum
The forum focused on a major real estate finance issue affecting Metropolitan New York's real estate industry and government communities: Financing Middle-Income Housing in New York.
Industry-Government Seminars
These seminars were smaller, more informal versions of conferences organized by the Institute's New York Real Estate Forum. Designed to facilitate close exchanges between participants and audience, seminars addressed issues that might eventually emerge as important New York real estate concerns. Subjects included The Future of the Manhattan Office Market, Brownfields and the Future of New York Real Estate, Sprawl: The Impact on Metropolitan New York Real Estate, and a Unified Bulk Conference.
The CUNY Urban Consortium
Sponsored by the Institute, the this interdisciplinary group brought together the resources of CUNY schools and departments that focused on urban issues, to exchange information about planning and design issues affecting the future of the city and metropolitan region. Events included Nuts & Bolts: Manufacturing in New York City's Future, Commercial Buildings and Business Districts, Campus and Community, The Future of New York: An International Perspective, Designing for Security, and Between Expedience and Deliberation: Decision-Making for Post-9/11 New York.
