Professor Walter Reichman

Walter Reichman, Ed.D is Professor Emeritus of Psychology, having retired in 2003 after 41 years at the college. During that time I was Chair of the Department for 16 years. After a long and wonderful career at Baruch I am now a Vice President of Sirota Consulting, an Industrial/ Organizational Psychology firm specializing in survey research of employees and customers. We use survey research as a tool to diagnose problems and issues in companies and provide consultation to executives and mangers on ways of improving their management of the organization. We have conducted research that indicates a linkage between employee attitudes, customer attitudes and how well the company performs.

I have had a variety I/O interests and experiences over the years. I spent many years researching and consulting on substance abuse in the workplace and have been active in the development of Employee Assistance Programs in private and public organizations. Another of my interests is in career development. I developed and taught the Career Development courses for the Masters and Ph. D programs in the department. I have also been involved in developing and researching assessment centers for predicting success of employees. Recently I have been working on developing electronic assessment centers for a government agency.

I have a great love and respect for my colleagues in the department, and have been happiest when I taught undergraduates and mentored graduate students. I invite students to contact me through my college e-mail address.
