Stefanie Bruno

I entered the I/O Doctoral program in the Fall of 2004. I am currently completing my second year of coursework.  My current research interests involve the growing use of temporary workers, shame and guilt in the workplace, as well as the psychological benefits of successfully influencing others.

During my first year, I worked as a research assistant for Dr. Kristin Sommer.  The studies conducted centered on the psychological consequences of interpersonal rejection and associated behavioral outcomes.  I am currently working on my second year project with Dr. Sommer centered on how the satisfaction of needs provided by interpersonal influence may improve the quality of work relationships.

Prior to entering the I/O Doctoral program, I worked as a Staffing Specialist at a well-know temporary staffing agency.  I also managed a men's retail and rental formalware store.  I earned my BA at Hofstra University , and worked alongside Dr. S. Stavros Valenti to conduct qualitative research focused on gossip and self-disclosure among adolescents.
