Background
Before beginning my doctoral studies, I earned a BA with honors from Rutgers University (1999) with a concentration in Psychology and Communications. After working for several years as a human resources representative, and eventually, an HR Generalist role, I returned to school to earn an MA in Psychology (with a concentration in Social-Personality Psychology) at Rhode Island College (Providence, RI). I am currently a fifth year student in the I/O Psychology Program at Baruch.
My training in social psychology and employment experiences as an HR generalist spurred my concern for equality and reduction of employment discrimination in the workplace. It has also fostered my interest in leadership and leadership diversity. Since arriving at Baruch, I have I am also engaged in thesis work looking at individual difference predictors of discrimination in the workplace.
Current Research Activities
While actively working toward completing the program requirements, I have been actively involved with three research teams. I have assisted with projects investigating implicit egotism, interpersonal rejection and related processes while working with Dr. Kristin Sommer (Dr. Sommer is also my thesis advisor). I continue to work closely with Dr. Karen Lyness on projects related to diversity issues in the workplace. Finally, I have and continue to work on research projects with Dr. Loren Naidoo examining the effects of leader verbal and nonverbal behaviors on follower motivational orientation and task performance.
Teaching Activities
While completing program requirements and research, I have also maintained an active role in teaching. Thus, far I have taught Introduction to Industrial & Organizational Psychology (Psych 3181), Interviewing Techniques (Psych 3182), and Experimental Psychology (Psych 5020). I have also served as a teaching assistant for experimental psychology.
Professional Experience
In addition to my prior work experience, I have continued to work in several contract/consultant roles where I have employed my background/skills in statistical analyses, job analysis, survey work and recruiting.
