John Fernandez

I completed my doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Baruch College in 2005.   My primary research interests while in the program were in cross-cultural psychology, and my dissertation explored the validity of the Five-Factor Model of personality for individualists versus collectivists.  Also while in the program, I completed internships in survey research at the New York State Unified Court System and at IBM.

Since completing the program, I launched a career in Assessment and Selection.  I began working at Verizon Wireless in 2005 as an HR Consultant, primarily managing vendors to implement and run selection tests for external candidates applying to the company.  In 2007 I began working at Merck, my current employer.  I am a Manager of Assessment and Selection, and I support the company globally for all needs related to assessment and selection.  My role includes managing vendors and building assessment tools internally, for a variety purposes and applications.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists (SIOP).
