Campus
Resources
The
Weissman School of Arts and Sciences is located in Baruch's
extraordinary new Vertical Campus, which opened in Fall 2001.
At almost 800,000 square feet, the 17-floor structure serves
as a campus hub and houses more than 100 "smart"
classrooms and research facilities equipped with advanced
multimedia technologies, faculty and administrative offices,
executive conference facilities, a three-level sports and
recreation complex, a student activities center, a theatre
and recital hall, a 500-seat auditorium, a television studio,
a food court, and a bookstore.
Organized
around a series of stacked atria with large windows that flood
the building with natural light, the structure has an innovative
design that recreates the campus atmosphere of an open-air
quadrangle. This vertical re-interpretation of the traditional
college campus enables Baruch to maximize its urban setting
and provides a spacious environment where students and faculty
can spontaneously meet and interact.
Four
floors of Baruch's Information and Technology Building are
devoted to the 1,450-seat William and Anita Newman Library,
an inviting environment for research and study. The library
provides the Baruch community with access to several hundred
online databases and to vast holdings in print and electronic
formats. And, your Baruch ID card gives you borrowing privileges
at any CUNY library and access to the eight-million-volume
collection of the New York Public Library. The Information
and Technology Building also houses the Baruch Computing and
Technology Center (BCTC), which features over 500 computer
workstations with Web access and multimedia capability.
