Request an in-class workshop or classroom visit by the Writing Center

From:  Diana Hamilton, Acting Director, Baruch College Writing Center

Dear Members of the Faculty:

The Writing Center invites you to request a classroom visit and/or an in-class workshop this fall. Last semester, we led over 80 combined classroom visits and in-class workshops, introducing our services to students ranging from undergrads in CICs and honors business courses to grad students in management, fundraising, and psychology.

In a classroom visit: We’ll present a 10-15 minute overview that introduces our mission, describes our services, and helps students determine how they can make the best use of the Writing Center’s resources. You can request a visit by using this form.

In an in-class workshop: An experienced, professional Writing Center consultant will present one of our 25 workshops on a wide variety of writing, reading, research, interpretation, and analysis skills. Our workshops typically last about 75 minutes, and you can find descriptions and lesson plans on our website.

To ensure the success of the workshops for all involved, we ask that participating faculty:

  • request in-class workshops at least two weeks prior to the desired workshop date(s), whenever possible;
  • be present for the entirety of the workshop when it is delivered in-class.

If you’re interested in requesting one or more workshops, please review descriptions and lesson plans, and then use this link to submit a request.

Please note that while we do our best to fulfill all requests, we cannot guarantee workshop availability, particularly if your class meets outside of regular Writing Center hours (Monday-Thursday 9-8, Friday 9-3, Saturday 10-4).

Please feel free to be in touch for any reason! And thank you for your partnership over the years—we’re excited to continue working with you.

My best,

Diana
