From: Professor Esther Allen, Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature
Along with two student clubs—the Baruch Japan Club and the Baruch Anime Asylum—as well as the Japan Foundation, New York, Prof. Shige (CJ) Suzuki organized the “Alt-Manga Symposium,” which explored alternative forms of the Japanese comic known as manga at Baruch College in Spring 2016.
At this lunch, Prof. Suzuki and students Ueki Ryuji and Christine Urban will discuss how they've collaborated on cultural and career events for students interested in Japan, and how research interests in globalized Japanese culture can be pursued in the language classroom by connecting students with local and global communities, both through digital technologies and by accessing the wide array of firsthand experiences of Japanese culture available in New York City.
