Research in the Classroom: A CUNY Workshop
Wednesday, April 23, 9am – 3pm
CUNY Graduate Center, 365 5th Avenue, New York Concourse Level
Free Registration — by Friday, April 11
From: Gillian Small, CUNY Vice Chancellor for Research
Our mission is to expand the scope of the research endeavor at CUNY by broadening participation of undergraduate students. The traditional “apprentice” model encourages students to work in a laboratory setting or one-on-one with a professor. Our goal is to take faculty research directly to students in the classroom by creating a research-integrated curriculum.
To stimulate creative ways to integrate research into the curriculum, we will be holding a one day-workshop at the Graduate Center on April 23rd, 2014.
The workshop features platform presentations and breakout sessions that analyze how CUNY’s colleges have integrated research into their curriculums across disciplines. Workshop discussions will review methods for assessing the impact of this endeavor on student success.
In addition, a new grant initiative will be announced at the workshop.
