The 16th Symposium on Communication-Intensive Teaching and Learning
With Keynote Speaker Jake Silverstein
Friday, October 21, 9:30am-3:15pm, NVC 14-220
The Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute invites all Baruch faculty, full- and part-time, to join us for the 16th Symposium on Communication-Intensive Teaching and Learning.
At this year’s event, we’re hoping to spark a conversation about the ways that our students—and we ourselves as educators and academics—can become more masterful storytellers, better equipped to transform a list of transactions into a narrative about a merger, for example, or to engage with a complex concept by telling a story about its application. Keynote speaker Jake Silverstein, Editor in Chief of the New York Times Magazine, will introduce central elements and practices of storytelling, and alongside other professional storytellers—writers, brand strategists, curators—we’ll explore how these methods might intersect with our own assignments, classrooms, and professional lives.
We hope to see you there!
