From: Prof. Nancy Aries, Marxe School of International and Public Affairs

This is the fourth year that Baruch College is participating in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Sunday, October 23, from 10am-12pm. Organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the walk promotes suicide awareness and prevention and education of the public about mental illness. AFSP is the leading national not-for-profit organization dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.

Your participation and support is invaluable as a way to honor our loved ones, make information about suicide more widely available, and demonstrate the College’s commitment to this important issue.

To join Team Baruch:

  • Visit the team’s webpage on the AFSP site: Team Baruch
  • Click "Join Our Team"
  • Select "Team Walker" for Participant Type
  • Select "Join a Team" for Role
  • Select “Team Baruch"
  • Click “Continue to Next Step” so you can complete your registration

For more information about AFSP and its mission, visit http://www.afsp.org/.  If you would like more information or materials about the walk, feel free to contact Vincent Gangemi at vincent.gangemi@baruchmail.cuny.edu or Zachary Nabavian at zachary.nabavian@baruchmail.cuny.edu

Please share this with anyone that you feel would be interested and help spread the word! Your support of our outreach efforts is greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you at the walk!
