March is Women’s History Month. In keeping with the theme of this year’s Women’s History Month “Our Journey to Resilience, Power, and Leadership,” you and your students are invited to attend a screening of Miss Representation, directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. This film, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, explores how the media’s misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence. You can learn more about the film by visiting www.missrepresentation.org.
The film will be screened on Thursday, March 7th from 12:30-2:30pm in NVC 3-215. Following the screening, we will engage in a conversation about the role of the media and the media’s representation of women in society today. The dialogue will be co-facilitated by Zuleica Lopez, Multicultural Affairs Coordinator in the Office of Student Life, and Megan Aronson, Assistant Director of Health and Wellness.
For additional information about the screening or for questions about Women’s History Month please send an email to Zuleica.Lopez@baruch.cuny.edu
