After an extensive national search, we have named Michele Doney as Director of Baruch’s Student Academic Consulting Center (SACC) and the Immersion Program as of today, July 6, 2016.
Michele, who completed her M.S. Ed. in Higher Education at Baruch College in 2011, has more than 13 years of full-time experience in tutoring and other academic support services, most recently at John Jay College, where she is the Director of the Math and Science Resource Center. Michele shows great enthusiasm for student learning as well as the administrative acumen necessary to ensure and assess learning on a broad programmatic scale. Her expertise in the scholarship of teaching and learning is impressive, as is her pedagogical content knowledge in a range of disciplines. Perhaps most important for the growth and future of the center, Michele's professionalism and academic identity make clear she will be a valued and respected colleague to our faculty and a strong addition to our other directors of support services in Teaching and Learning.
SACC helps more than 5,000 students each year in a wide range of subjects and employs more than 100 students as peer tutors. During the summer and January, the Center hosts our Immersion program, which helps students preparing to re-take standardized CUNY Assessment Tests.
Michele will join the other full-time members of our very strong tutoring center: Nidzaida (Nicy) Garcia, Assistant Director; Jonathan Williams, Math Tutorial Coordinator; and Teresa Dimilta, Administrative Coordinator.
Please join me in welcoming Michele Doney to Baruch College.
